W0LMD Receiving Scan Converter

The objective of this unit was to be able to view SSTV on a conventional (P4) TV set in full daylight conditions. The finished unit had close to 100 ICs but with some available PCB cards, could be built in a few months.

The impact of these receiving scan converters is difficult to underestimate. Both WB9LVI and WØLMD showed up with their new receiving scan converters at the Dayton Ramada Inn on the Friday night before the Hamvention. The word was out that these units would be there, so a small room made for maybe 40 people had 150 SSTVers in it waiting to see SSTV in normal room lighting. They were not disappointed. I heard that someone went up to the Robot (commercial SSTV) booth the next day, and after seeing only the P7 products on display, asked if that's all they had.
